Yeah, Midjourney/AI imagery is unpopular for some good reasons. I'd recommend using old paintings or taking photos for imagery if you can't otherwise make or pay for the art.
You know, I had to sit with this one for a minute. But you know what, I realized that whatever my argument in defense is, it doesn't matter. A social consensus has been established and it ought to be respected.
Having said that, however, there was a third option you hadn't considered.
You should break the fourth wall. Do it, I dare you.
Who did these drawings, by the way?
What if the fourth was is an illusion? I think it almost has to be.
For the images, I've been using Midjourney. Not a popular choice, maybe, but it does let me get what I want for the presentation.

What's the secret third option?
I think it’s totally obvious: does it even need an image at all?
Maybe it is secret, though. The more I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen not having an image at all proposed as a solution.
Yeah, that's definitely an option, no shame in that. And if you find a better way in the future to help spice things up, then go for it!
